A few months ago I posted about our "unexpected garden" that came about without ever planting a seed. We used the bottom of our floor-less chicken coop as our compost, letting the chickens turn over the grass, leaves, straw, and daily vegetable compost from our kitchen. By spring, on this 8'x4' plot of land, appeared a dense cluster of vegetables sprouting there way upward; corn, zucchini, tomato, peppers, wheat, and lettuce.
It's now going on mid-July and we couldn't be happier! Practically busting at the seams, nearly doubled in size from the original footprint, this wild jungle of plants, flowers, and weeds has already yielded 20+ zucchini, lettuce, corn, wheat, with an abundance of tomatoes (not yet ripe) on the way! We are having so much success with this truly "no till garden" that I have already vowed to mimic this next year.
We owe this bountiful gift to our chickens, who tirelessly scratched and dug through their bedding (our compost) over the winter, in search of bugs. They ate, they pooped, they set the foundation for this 100% organic vegetable garden!
My job is simple; water daily, harvest the fruit, and take it all in!

Monsanto looking for world domination?
It would appear that Monsanto is looking for world domination when it comes to our food industry, which shouldn't come as a surprise since they already rule the food industry within the US.
They have control over the Department of Agriculture at all levels and can sway any vote by congress in their favor. They directly influence our medical industry by funding biogenetic research at the university level, while threatening lawsuits and pulling funds to universities that do not oblige. They have a very influential hand in the pharmaceutical industry, which conveniently enough forces their hand (a second time) in our medical industry. And they have absolute rule over all farmers that have sold their souls to the devil (Monsanto), not to mention those farmers that haven't... once it has been determined that any portion of a farmers crop originated from Monsanto's GM seeds, even due to cross contamination, they own you!
With the United States in the bag, it appears they (Monsanto) are finally breaking down the previously impenetrable European Union... Monsanto promises pain to EU
So what can we do to prevent the global destruction caused as a result?
Support local organic sustainable farms for all your pastured meats, eggs, dairy, and vegetables. For all other store bought products, try and choose organic brands that are not associated with companies such as Monsanto; click here for a brief list. And be aware that this is just a general list and does not include every company that is in one way or another at some level tied to Monsanto. Even some organic brands that may not include GM ingredients have ties to Monsanto.
Educate yourself and take control of your health!

Bee proactive when it comes to the disappearance of our bees
I posted last year sometime about my thoughts on the disappearance of our nations honeybees, and what I felt was the culprit to this ultimately devastating trend. I felt that based on what I've learned about our nations corrupt evil profit driven food system (factory pharming, GMO's, toxic chemicals, pesticides) that the answer to what their calling CCD (colony collapse disorder) was right in front of us. It seemed quite obvious to me at the time, that the same thing that has killed the majority of this worlds fertile soil, and the same thing that is promoting disease and fatality amongst humans who consume this nutrient deficient toxic food, might very well be the same thing that is mysteriously killing bees, and now I see that others have assumed the same.
One person in particular, an Illinois bee keeper by the name of Mr. Ingram, had been doing research for the past 15 years on a hunch that factory pharming, more specifically the use of pesticides and herbicides, are the cause.
"Ingram believes the destruction of his bees and hives is more likely to be related to his research into the effect of Roundup on honey bees. He claims some 250 of his colonies have been killed off over the years by Monsanto's broad-spectrum herbicide, used in large quantities on both conventional- and genetically engineered crops. Ingram's research shows that Roundup can lead to what's called chilled brood, which is an entirely different scenario."
If you know anything about this pure evil that is Monsanto and their ties and influence with Department of Agriculture on both the state and federal levels, you wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find out that once word of his research got out, the Illinois Department of Agriculture seized (stole and destroyed) his hives conveniently sabotaging the past 15years worth of research against Monsanto and their use of roundup as the cause. What's behind Illinois stealing local hero's bee hives?
So what can you do you ask?
Be Proactive! Stop being ignorant about where your food comes from and at what cost, and stop supporting factory pharming! Start supporting your local organic sustainable farmers for all your pastured meats, eggs, and dairy. Buy only locally grown organic produce. Plant a garden for that matter, and fight the urge to use any herbicide or pesticide, and instead vow to take the organic rout. Raise your own flock (2 or 3 is all you need) of backyard pastured laying hens, and enjoy the health benefits and amazing taste of a real egg. Reintroduce yourself with something that you've been depriving yourself of for all these years... real food!

Homemade Kefir
With fermented foods being so important in maintaining a healthy gut... healthy immune system... healthy you... and so easy to make, it's almost foolish not add these immune boosting disease preventing foods to your diet!
When I say they are easy to make, it's truly an understatement. With bacteria doing 99% of the work, all you need is a little patience. As I've posted before, my wife and I make our own sauerkraut (fermented cabbage), our own pickles (fermented cucumbers and zucchini), and now we've added homemade coconut kefir to the list.
All you need is a few young coconuts, some kefir starter, and time (about 36-48hrs).
If you want to read more about the importance of fermented foods, follow this link and watch the video at the bottom of the page (after reading the article of course).
This food contains 100 times more probiotic than a supplement.
Stay informed and stay healthy!
